Gemmotherapy
A Unique Form of Botanical Medicine
Gemmotherapy is a therapeutic method which uses the extracts of fresh buds, shoots, roots or stems derived from developing or maturing plants. It is from these young undifferentiated growths that the highest concentrations of the active constituents necessary for tissue regeneration, favorable growth development and essential drainage (toxin clearing effect) properties are obtained.
The plant's life essence is at its peak in the young growths and seeds, and it is this strong life essence that gemmotherapy captures. It is this “embryonic” influence of the extracts of the developing plants that give “Gemmo” botanical extracts a uniquely effective influence to heal toxic and degenerated tissues of the body.
Another special quality of Gemmo botanical preparations is that these plant substances are extracted from water, glycerin, and alcohol mediums in order to capture the full spectrum of plant constituents. Most herbal extracts are formulated from either water or alcohol extracts.
Sometimes we prescribe medicines referred to as Phytogens. These are concentrated Gemmo medicines that have been combined to treat certain conditions.
